Christmas Shopping

It’s time to tick off your Christmas list! Head to the shops rather than the keyboard and help support the high street this festive season.

Shop to your heart’s content in the town centre filled with an abundance of high street retailers and independent shops, handily located between the Christmas by the Sea village and the Winter Gardens Wonderland.

Enjoy the Christmas cheer and come to town this Christmas.

Houndshill Shopping Centre

Located in the heart of Blackpool, Houndshill Shopping Centre is home to more than 60 stores, including Primark, New Look, Footasylum, Jack Jones and River Island. There’s also Boots and Superdrug for all your beauty needs and Build-a-Bear Workshop too. Whether you're an early elf or a last-minute Santa dasher, Houndshill has a wonderful choice of popular high street retailers and independents to find all you need to tick off your Christmas list (Santa's too!).

Endlessly trawling through websites and waiting days for your delivery just isn’t fun during the festive season. Whereas Christmas shopping in all your favourite stores amidst a dazzling festive backdrop, picture-pretty window displays and the bustling high streets brings a festive feeling like no other.

Prefer to stock up on your Christmas goodies when it’s a little quieter? Serious shoppers can take advantage of Late Night Shopping at Houndshill Shopping Centre, open until 9pm every Thursday in December:  2 December, 9am-9pm; 9 December, 9am-9pm; 16 December, 9am-9pm; 23 December, 9am-9pm. Treat yourself to a free hot chocolate and scrumptious shortbread biscuits on offer whilst you shop.

Houndshill will be open from 9-6pm on other days Monday to Saturday and from 10.30am-4.30pm on Sundays.

Independent Shops

The streets surrounding Houndshill are also packed with High Street staples like M&S, Clintons, The Body Shop, and Holland & Barrett.

For something a little leftfield, head to Victoria Street to browse the stalls of 13 local traders who moved out of Abingdon Street Market whilst it undergoes a £3.6m renovation. From hosiery to handbags, clothes to cosmetics, you will find last-minute gifts and goodies for your family and friends. Venture further afield towards Topping Street and Caunce Street, where you’ll discover some locally-run independent stores, including Records and Relics for the music maestros and Sweet Memories, a treasure trove of candy and chocolate.

There’s also our Tourist Information Centre at Festival House on the Promenade for all your Blackpool memorabilia. You will find an array of seaside stocking fillers, including Christmas ceramic mugs, I Love BPL Hoodies, travel cups and a range of delicately handmade Christmas baubles from a local artist. We will also occupy one of the Christmas cabins on the Tower Festival Headland, so pop by and say hello to our friendly team.

Christmas Cabins

For the first time in history, the Tower Festival Headland is adorned with cosy wooden cabins selling unique gifts, food and drink. All the log cabins on the Headland, excluding our Tourist Information Centre stall, are operated by local independent businesses, giving you the opportunity to shop local this season. For more information on our Christmas By The Sea offering, please click here.

A short walk away from the buzz of the Promenade is Winter Gardens Wonderland. This new venture for 2021 will see a plethora of Christmas stalls offering a range of mouth-watering food and drink, and unique Yuletide gifts in the heart of Blackpool. Extend your festive-filled experience with funfair rides in the Winter Gardens, an action-packed virtual reality sleigh ride and snowball fight, and a ride on the Christmas carousel in St John’s Square. Find out more about Winter Gardens Wonderland here.

Need a break from your retail therapy? Blackpool has a superb selection of cafés including Starbucks, Costa Coffee and Caffé Nero in Houndshill Shopping Centre. For a spot of lunch or dinner, head to Cedar Square where you’ll find a collection of independent cafes and restaurants, including Stefani’s, an award-winning wood-fired pizza restaurant; Ziggy’s Café Bar; Pastels for mouth-wateringly juicy burgers; and Number Five for delicious coffee and cake.
