Switch-On FAQs

We're getting so excited for Blackpool's biggest party of the year, and hope you are, too! We understand that you'll have some questions, so whilst winners will be e-mailed the full terms and conditions, here are some FAQs to get the party started! 


1. When will we find out if we’ve won?

We only contact people who have been successful. We will announce on Facebook and Twitter when we’re e-mailing winners, and this will be by Monday 5 August at 17:00. Please check junk and spam folders in case your e-mails end up there.

2. How do the e-tickets work?

We will initially send out e-mails to notify entrants who have won, but we will issue an e-ticket via Skiddle by Tuesday 13 August at noon. You may either print your ticket and bring it with you, or download your e-ticket to the Skiddle App and present it on your mobile phone (instructions of how to do this will be in the e-mail). Every single guest will be scanned in at the gate, so ensure you have all tickets with you or you won’t be able to access the arena.

3. I have won a pair of tickets to the disabled platform – how can I get these?

In order to access the disabled platform and receive a free carer ticket, we need to receive evidence of proof of disability such as blue badge, DLA/DWP or PIP letter or letter on headed paper from a doctor/physician/NHS governing body/private healthcare consultant by Wednesday 14 August at noon. If we have not received evidence by this time, we shall issue general admission arena tickets instead. Please e-mail evidence to website@visitblackpool.com if you are successful.

4. Can I bring a bag with me?

Please note that due to increased security measures, no backpacks, large bags, holdalls or suitcases will be admitted into the venue, nor will any food or drink (there are plentiful stalls onsite). You will be refused entry if you attempt to enter the venue with prohibited items.

Patrons with accessible and medical requirements/equipment will be considered on an individual basis but encouraged to contact the venue in advance for ease of entry. There will be no temporary storage facilities for such items within the venue and it will be left to the patron to find a safe temporary facility to hold the item. All bags will be searched.
 
5. Where’s the party at?

 The Blackpool Illuminations Switch-on Arena is located on The Tower Festival Headland, opposite the Blackpool Tower – please note that if you are travelling by car we suggest you aim to use Central Car Park. A map detailing car parks available in Blackpool can be viewed here.
 
If you are travelling by train to Blackpool North, the arena is a ten-minute walk from the station, just head towards the Promenade and the arena is to the left of North Pier.
 
6. What is the Golden Circle?

 The Golden Circle is a ticketing option we introduced in 2018. It is the area directly in front of the stage that we sell a limited number of tickets for in order for people to guarantee their place and be up close and personal with the talent. Tickets are just £10.00 + booking fee and are available here.

7. What do we do if I see someone attempting to sell their e-tickets online?

We will be making more Golden Circle tickets available, and they’re just £10.00 + booking fee, so we strongly recommend purchasing from here. However, if people are attempting to sell their tickets, potential buyers must be aware that sellers could be attempting to sell the same ticket to ten different people.

If at any point the Golden Circle tickets sell out and you see someone attempting to sell theirs on who can no longer attend, only purchase from a trusted friend or family member, as if you purchase from an unknown source, you risk arriving at the arena and being denied access. This will happen if the scanners show that your ticket has already been scanned and the person is in the arena, along with the time that they entered. We cannot be held responsible for this, and so are not liable to provide you with a refund.
