Getting Around Blackpool
By Tram

Like a trip up the Tower, a journey on the Blackpool trams forms an essential part of any visit to the town. It’s quite simply the perfect way to travel through the town – with the spectacular coastline on one side and the famous Golden Mile on the other.
What a lot of people don’t realise is that the description of that ‘golden mile’ employs quite a bit of artistic license – the distance from the Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the south to The Blackpool Tower is actually more like three miles – so the tram is the perfect way to take the strain of your feet!
Originally advertised as ‘the only way to travel’, the whole line is 12 miles from Starr Gate in the south to Fleetwood Ferry in the north; stopping near to all the major attractions along the way.
We have been the worldwide launch-pad for the state-of-the-art new FLEXITY “tram from Bombardier, the largest manufacturer of light rail vehicles in the world. The 16 new vehicles have a first-class focus on passenger comfort and safety – with accessibility features to ensure that everyone can enjoy the ride.
And don’t despair if you love the traditional Blackpool tram, the £100 million upgrade has allowed heritage tramcars to run side-by-side with the new models: meaning visitors can continue to experience an authentic ride.
