Blackpool’s LIVEWIRE Festival is back for 2019!

LIVEWIRE Festival announces it will return to the famous seaside resort for the August bank holiday in 2019. From Thursday August 22nd – Sunday August 25th Blackpool’s Tower Headland Arena will once again welcome some of the world’s biggest stars.

Thursday 22 August (morning)

Livewire Festival has announced that ‘Milkshake! Live – Milkshake Monkey’s Musical!’, a brand new all singing, all dancing preschool musical extravaganza. The gates of the Tower Festival Headland will be open from 09:00, with the show starting at 11:00.

Starring Fireman Sam, Noddy, Shimmer & Shine, Digby Dragon, Wissper, Nella the Princess Knight and the Floogals, alongside two Milkshake Presenters, this brand-new show has plenty of laughter, audience interaction and great fun to get everyone up on their feet! 

Thursday 22 August (evening)

Livewire Festival has announced that the Thursday evening slot will be a celebration of British Comedy, with Jason Manford, Alan Davies, Mark Watson and Chris Ramsey all performing next to Blackpool’s now iconic ‘Comedy Carpet’.

Local Lancashire lad Jason Manford is hot off his highly successful ‘Muddle Class Tour’ which explored Jason’s life growing up ‘working class’, then finding that as he’s got older, part of him has become ‘middle class’, causing much confusion!

Saturday 24 August

The first headline artist to be announced is Ms. Lauryn Hill, who will be performing on Saturday August 24th joined by other acts yet to be announced.  Ms. Lauryn Hill established her presence in the musical world as the lone female member of The Fugees, whose record sales would make them the second biggest selling R&B act worldwide since Michael Jackson, with iconic singles including ‘Killing Me Softly’, ‘Ready Or Not’ and ‘No Women No Cry’. She launched her solo career with the release of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’, which earned a record breaking five Grammy Awards.

Sunday 25 August

The Sunday evening slot will be a musical extravaganza, titled ‘From Movies To Musicals’ bringing some of the UK’s most beloved musical stars to the famous seaside resort for the August bank holiday in 2019.

Ben Forster, John Owen-Jones, Kerry Ellis, Ruthie Henshall, and more yet to be announced will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
