These Bubbles are not for Bursting: The SPA Hotel Retains its Good Spa Guide Five Bubble Rating
The SPA Hotel at Ribby Hall Village has once again retained its Five Bubble rating from the Good Spa Guide, meaning it has consistently held a five bubble status since it opened in 2011.
The five bubbles reflect the excellent quality experience that visitors to The SPA can expect, from standard of facilities and general cleanliness, through to the all-important customer service and, of course, the treatments themselves.
The Good Spa Guide is the UK’s most trusted authority on spas and spa treatments. Its Bubble Rating system is a measure of excellence within the spa industry, rating spas one to five after assessing them comprehensively on more than 80 criteria.
The SPA Hotel’s rating follows an undercover overnight stay by two assessors, or ‘Spa Spies,’ from the Good Spa Guide. They spent an afternoon enjoying the Spa’s iconic Aqua Thermal Journey followed by two specialist treatments, as well as enjoying lunch and dinner in The Orangery.
The Aqua Thermal Journey itself provides plenty of opportunity to assess the facilities and cleanliness of the venue, with its multitude of heat experiences both indoor and outdoor - including aroma steam rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, saunas, footbaths, a Balinese salt inhalation room, plus monsoon and mist showers.
An essential part of the Journey is a visit to the outdoor Zen Garden, which has recently benefited from a £200,000 refurbishment. Here, the Spa Spies were able to experience two outdoor hot tubs, a rustic sauna, mood showers and the ultra-soothing Himalayan salt sauna, and Zen Bar - all enjoying fabulous views across the Lancashire countryside. The SPA spies described the Aqua Thermal Journey as ‘the star of the spa show’.
One of the treatments selected by the assessors was the Elemis Superfood Pro-Radiance Facial, which led to the comment ‘my skin looked smooth and brighter’ and ‘I was impressed by the hydra-gel eye pads, which had visibly hydrated the area beneath my eyes’.
The second treatment was the Decadent Cocoa Ritual, which was ‘both soothing and uplifting. My skin felt soft and smooth from the wrap, and my mind calmed by all that massage’. One of the SPA Hotel’s signature treatments, the Decadent Cocoa Ritual includes a foot soak, chocolate body wrap, scalp massage, full body massage, a mocktail and a gift to take away.
Both took some time out before their treatments, relaxing in the Countryside View Room with its comfortable loungers and complimentary refreshments. Afterwards, they indulged in a quick post-treatment snooze in the Dark Relaxation Room, candle-lit with furry blankets to snuggle up with.
The assessors ate two meals they described as simply ‘delicious’ in the 2AA Rosette restaurant, The Orangery. They found the menu ‘fresh and tempting, with many foods locally sourced’, and expressed that the meals were ‘beautifully-prepared and served’.
As well as awarding the five bubbles, the assessors picked out certain elements for particular praise, including the friendly service of all the staff, saying ‘they really did make the day’, the cleanliness and the ‘fantastic value for money’.
Commenting on the award, Spa Manager Jane Tregonning says: “We’re absolutely delighted with our five bubble rating! Everyone here works so hard to ensure that all our guests have an amazing experience. Great food, superb facilities and a sumptuous room are to be expected, but the SPA Hotel goes a step further than that, offering all the extra ingredients required for true relaxation, an escape from the everyday and pampering perfection.”
Ribby Hall Village is the Northwest’s only five-star Holiday Village and The Spa Hotel is the jewel in its crown. At the end of The Village’s main drive, with its own ornamental lake and fountain, The SPA Hotel sits in hilltop splendour, and a one or two night stay here really does tick all the ‘getaway’ boxes.
Spa Breaks at The Spa Hotel, including breakfast, dinner, access to the Aqua Thermal Journey and an overnight stay, start from £119 per person.
