LIVE at the Grand Theatre Blackpool
Monday 30 March to Saturday 4 April 2015
The Grand Theatre is thrilled to announce the return of what is widely regarded as ‘the most terrifying live theatre experience in the world’, when The Woman in Black plays in Blackpool from Monday 30 March to Saturday 4 April 2015.
Adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the 1983 gothic novel by Susan Hill, The Woman In Black is now celebrating 25 years in the West End. The stage-show is the second-longest running non-musical play in the West End after Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap, and has enthralled over 7 million people since its original debut there in 1989.
The story is related by retired-solicitor Arthur Kipps who recalls his ghostly experiences when he was summoned on business to a small English town on the north east coast. While at the small market town of Crythin Gifford he experiences a series of chilling events related to the apparition of a woman in black who appears to herald the death of children.
Widely considered to be a spectacular piece of theatre, The Woman In Black is a favourite amongst audiences of all ages for its unique ability to chill even the most-hardened thrill-seeker with its unique blend of gripping storyline, suspense, drama and bold stagecraft.
The play’s widespread popularity for its chilling intensity has also led to a range of adaptations for radio, television and film, including the 2012 film version which starred Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps.
Lovers of the supernatural and high-end drama should not miss this opportunity to see The Woman In Black and experience a truly spine-chilling theatrical encounter in the historic surrounds of the Grand Theatre, Blackpool.
