The success of the Regent Cinema on Church Street looks set to continue in 2019 when it begins regular showings of 35mm films to compliment its digital showings.
The Regent Cinema opened in 2016 showing classic films across all ages. It has grown from strength to strength and now, on the 24th February it will begin monthly showings of 35mm films, 50 years after they were last shown back in 1969.
Currently showing films digitally every Friday night, The Regent Cinema will show a 35mm film on the last Sunday of every month. Owner Richard Taylor said, "It's fantastic that after 50 years since the last 35mm showing we are bringing the past back to life. We have had a great deal of help from Dion Hanson and Alan Foster from The Projected Picture Trust without which this could never have happened."
The chosen film is a strict secret being launched as a mystery film night with the only clue being the film will be based on the theme of the month which is a love theme. The film will start at 7.30pm with doors opening at 7pm.
Tickets are available on The Regent Cinema's website www.regentcinemablackpool.co.uk and also at The Regent during the daytime.
