The Blackpool Pier Swim is Back!
Following the huge success last year, the Blackpool Pier to Pier Swim will take place on Saturday 27th July, 2019.
This event is THE official annual Pier Swim approved by Blackpool Council and other partners. It has the water safety support provided by the wonderful and highly experienced Blackpool Beach Patrol under the management of Richard Williams.
The event run by Get Set 4 Success Ltd this year has been opened to swimmers in 2019 with some open water swimming experience. Participants may swim with or without a wetsuit but must wear a safety swim float to ensure they are very visible in the water.
Once again, the Sandcastle Water Park is the venue and after registration swimmers will take a short tram ride to the start at North Pier.
Depending on numbers, there will be two waves of swimmers set off at various intervals. Once swimmers complete the challenge the next wave will be set off.
Events Manager and Director of Get Set 4 Success Ltd, Dr. Julie Bradshaw MBE who brought back the Blackpool Pier Swim in July 2018, keeps safety at the core of the various ‘fun for all events’ her Company organises and runs.
Blackpool ‘girl’ Julie, a world record marathon swimmer herself who started her swimming career in the sea in her hometown over 40 years ago, commented, “I am delighted once again to welcome more swimmers to our amazing seaside town and to organise this event. I am so grateful for the support of Blackpool Council, The Sandcastle Water Park and Blackpool Transport for their continued help. It is really exciting to be building this event.”
Already a sponsor has offered complimentary swimming memberships at a beautiful local location to train for the Blackpool Pier Swim – want to know more, then do contact Julie soon as there are only a couple up for grabs!
