Celebrating a remarkable 21 year partnership, award-winning folk group Show of Hands perform at the Grand Theatre Blackpool on Friday 8 November.
One of Devon’s most successful musical “exports”, Show of Hands have sold out the Royal Albert Hall four times and are triple winners at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards (Best Duo, Best Original Song, Best Live Act).
Show of Hands – singer songwriter Steve Knightly, multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer and Miranda Sykes on double bass- were last year’s headliners at the Fylde Folk Festival in Fleetwood and will be performing on the Grand Theatre’s stage this November.
Show of Hands have become one of the acoustic roots scene’s major players, widely recognised for their resonating original songs, slick musicianship and audience rapport – featuring on BBC TV’s Countryfile, BBC Breakfast and Andrew Marr shows and regularly played by the likes of Bob Harris, Mike Harding, Mark Radcliffe, Johnnie Walker and Simon Mayo.
Following a summer of key UK festival headline appearances and a tour of Germany the genre-defying band return to England this autumn for the Hand in Hand tour – for the first time ever Steve, Phil and Miranda will be their own support act – performing three songs apiece in the opening set to showcase their myriad individual talents, before joining forces for the unique Show of Hands experience after the interval.
The Anglo-American themed studio album released last year was acclaimed by many critics as their best yet and they will continue to showcase it on tour.
