LIVE at the Grand Theatre Blackpool Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 February 2015
The iconic musical Saturday Night Fever will make its way to Blackpool Grand Theatre from Tuesday 17 to Saturday 21 February as part of a brand-new UK tour!
One of the best-loved dance stories of all time, Saturday Night Fever is being revived by Theatre Royal Bath Productions in association with the Robert Stigwood Organisation. The show features a twenty-strong cast of talented actor-musicians and is packed with legendary Bee Gees hits, including Stayin’ Alive, Night Fever, Jive Talking, How Deep is Your Love? and You Should Be Dancing.
1976, New York: Tony Manero, a young man from a tough Brooklyn neighbourhood with a dead-end job and an extraordinary ability to dance, has one ambition – to become the disco king. Every Saturday night, Tony dons his flares and hits the dance floor, creating a stir as he wows the crowds. When he meets Stephanie, who also dreams of a world beyond Brooklyn, the two decide to train together for a dance competition, whereupon their lives will change forever.
The smash-hit 1977 film starred Oscar-nominee John Travolta and inspired the definitive soundtrack by the Bee Gees. Not only did it popularise disco around the world, thanks to the multi Grammy Award-winning music behind the film, but combined with its gripping storyline, Saturday Night Fever also captured the imagination of millions.
Tony Manero is played by Danny Bayne, winner of ITV’s Grease is the Word, who made his West End debut as Danny Zuko in Grease at London’s Piccadilly Theatre for two years and on tour. He returns to the role after a successful tour throughout the USA. Bayne is also an extraordinarily talented dancer, achieving the title of British Champion in Freestyle, Hip Hop, Latin American and Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Accompanying Danny Bayne onstage in Blackpool is Naomi Slights, who returns to the role of Stephanie after her performances at Frankfurt’s English Theatre. Slights has previously performed in Mamma Mia! in the West End, 20th Century Boy and Thank You For The Music at Hyde Park.
