One Month To Go Until Blackpool Air Show Returns 8 July 2026 by Visit Blackpool It’s just one month to go until the skies above Blackpool are filled with spectacular aerial displays from some of the world’s finest military and civilian aircraft. The Blackpool Air Show takes place on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August, and the full flying programme has now been revealed. Crowds will be treated to a display by a MiG-17. The iconic Cold War fighter jet, based in Poland, will make its English display debut over Blackpool with a routine that is sure to entertain aviation enthusiasts. Bartosz Maciejczyk, CEO of Fubar Aviation Limited, said: “I’m incredibly excited to be bringing the MiG-17 to Blackpool Air Show for the very first time. It’s a rare opportunity to display such an iconic Cold War jet in front of a UK audience, and I’m honoured to share this remarkable aircraft with visitors to the show. “The MiG-17 is renowned for its speed, agility and unmistakable sound, making it a real crowd favourite wherever it flies. Blackpool has a fantastic reputation for hosting spectacular air displays, and I can’t wait to be part of this year’s event. I hope everyone enjoys seeing the MiG-17 in action as much as I enjoy flying it.” Joining the line-up for the first time in Blackpool are the US fighter aircraft P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang, alongside the Suffolk Spitfire, adding even more historic aviation pedigree to this year’s event. On Saturday, visitors will also witness one of the world’s most renowned parachute display teams. The Red Devils, the elite parachute display team of the British Army Parachute Regiment, will descend onto the famous seafront in a thrilling demonstration of skill and precision. Returning favourites include the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, featuring the iconic Dakota, Hurricane and Spitfire, offering a poignant tribute to Britain's aviation heritage. The packed programme also features a wide variety of aircraft displays, including the Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers, Hawk, Harvard, The Ravens, Yaks, Calidus Autogyro, Muscle Pitts and XtremeAir. Crowd favourite RAF Typhoon Display Team will once again bring its trademark speed, power and noise to Blackpool, performing breathtaking displays on both days of the show. Cllr Lynn Williams MBE, Leader of Blackpool Council, said: "The 2026 Blackpool Air Show is set to be one to remember, with several aircraft making their Blackpool debut and a programme that showcases some of the very best military and civilian aviation. "Blackpool has a rich history of celebrating aviation, having hosted the UK's first official public flying meeting in 1909. That legacy continues today as we welcome the MiG 17, it is new to the UK display circuit this year and this will be its first display at Blackpool. "Our Air Show is one of the largest free events of its kind in the country, and we are proud to bring this spectacular weekend to thousands of residents and visitors." From iconic military aircraft and thrilling flying demonstrations to interactive exhibition stands and activities for children, there really is something for everyone to enjoy.” Away from the action in the skies, visitors can enjoy the Air Show Village, located between Central Pier and North Pier and open from 11am to 6pm on both days. The village will feature a wide range of stalls, attractions and food concessions. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet aircraft ground crews and serving members of the armed forces, learn more about their roles and get up close to some of the equipment they use.
