The sporting event of the year is back – Blackpool’s official Mascot Games.
Mascots from the resort’s top attractions will be going head-to-head in their own style as they fight to be crowned 2013 Champion.
And this year there will be a new face in the crowd as VisitBlackpool adds its own mascot to the mix.
St John’s in the town centre will play host to the fourth annual Blackpool Mascot Games organised by VisitBlackpool, on Friday August 2.
Last year’s Grand Champion, Jungle Jim, will attempt to defend his title against strong competition from 2011 champions Bling and Balula from Sandcastle Waterpark, Harry the Hound from Houndshill Shopping Centre, SEA LIFE’s Sharky Shark, Chuck and Charlie Chipmunk from Radio Wave and Barci the Cockerel from Nandos.
The Mascot Games is a FREE event and will see characters competing against each other in a number of challenging disciplines including musical deckchairs, the egg and spoon race and a bean bag race.
The top three will then compete in the final discipline, the Obstacle Course, before being crowned the overall winner of this year’s VisitBlackpool Mascot Games Champion.
Natalie Wyatt, Managing Director of Marketing Blackpool, said: “The Mascot Games is a really popular event in our calendar and we all look forward to what is always a really fun day.
“This year will be particularly exciting as we launch the new yet-to-be-seen VisitBlackpool mascot.
“It is great to host such free, fun family events where all spectators can enjoy a great day in a fantastic public space.”
