Over the last few years, Greg Doughty has been part of some very significant events across the country. Back in 2023, after being recognised with a BEM by the late Queen for feeding the homeless during the COVID pandemic, he was privileged to be invited to be part of the King’s Coronation in May, taking his seat in Westminster Abbey to be part of history.
Now, in 2024, he is delighted to be hosting another significant event – Magnify – with hundreds of voices singing carols in the Blackpool Tower Circus. On Tuesday 10th December 2024, Greg will be taking his place on the circus platform. The carols will be led by the Blackpool Salvation Army Band and local Christian leaders will also share the nativity story in a unique way.
The event hopes to attract up to a thousand people singing carols in the unique venue and provides a memorable event in the build-up to Christmas. From 5pm, visitors can experience Christmas by the Sea, see the Blackpool illuminations and then, hear the sound of a brass band playing traditional carols, Greg expects Magnify to really make Christmas special in 2024.
“When I was at Westminster Abbey, I was moved to be part of the Coronation and enjoyed singing such historic hymns with so many other diverse voices. It is so exciting to be at the Blackpool Tower this Christmas to be central to the amazing sound of Christmas carols with the brass band – I’m expecting it to be emotional!”
The event is being organised by Refreshment UK, who have subsidised to event to keep tickets at just £5. One of Greg’s voluntary roles is to direct the work the charity does in Blackpool to provide a life-changing support programme for ex-offenders.
Magnify is open to all and you can tickets can be purchased directly from the Refreshment website here.
