Blackpool Illumination Switch-On week is going to shine even brighter this year with a first for Blackpool by critically acclaimed local company ENSEMBLE Theatre.

This dynamic company follow up their series of major hit musicals with Broadway’s CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY!

Andy Vitolo (Artistic Director) said “We are absolutely thrilled to bring one of the world’s most beloved stories to Blackpool and it’s the first time that it’s been here. The show originally ran in the West End and then Broadway but the tour didn’t come to the resort and I was determined to bring it to town.”

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY features all the hit songs from the first movie that starred Gene Wilder - ‘I got a golden ticket’, ‘Candy man’ and of course ‘Pure imagination’.

There are fantastic new songs from the writers of Hairspray too plus all the characters we know from the Roald Dahl classic..Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard and Mike Teavee.

Andy added “It’s a brilliant show for all the family that’s very funny, full of colour and its ultimate feel good entertainment. There have been 3 movies and there are fans of each one and we have nods to all of them and for me it’s an absolute dream to play the iconic role of Willy Wonka and don the purple coat with a head full of dreams, which is very much how I am in real life!”

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY runs from Thursday 29 August until Sunday 1 Sept with matinees on both Saturday and Sunday.
