Business tourism leaders in Blackpool are bidding to entice more conferences to Blackpool.
Representatives from VisitBlackpool are heading to Birmingham to urge the organisers of conferences and association gatherings to bring their members to Blackpool.
Specialist conference and event magazine myvenues has organised the networking showcase which will see around a hundred Midlands-based event planners questioning key venues and destinations from across the UK.
Face-to-face meetings are arranged in advance giving each destination 20 minutes to sell their towns and venues to individual organisers.
VisitBlackpool sent a delegation to a similar event in London in January and Tourism Manager Mandy Tythe-McCallum said it is vital that as many people are aware of the Blackpool brand as possible.
Mandy said: “Networking events are essential for us to really reach out to people and sell Blackpool to what can be huge business and conference organisers.
“The VisitBlackpool team is attending a number of high profile business and consumer trade shows and events throughout the year to ensure we get our message across to as wide an audience as possible.
“Building on the success of the last event in London we’re hoping event organisers in the Midlands will see the benefits of coming to the North West and Blackpool for their event.
“We see a number of leisure guests from this area and we’re hoping to show agents and planners the resort’s business offer. Only a 90 minute journey by train Blackpool is as easy to get to as London, we’re much more cost effective and are accessible to all.”
The myvenues networking event takes place at Birmingham’s Aston University on April 3.
