He may be Yorkshire born and bred, but Billy Pearce is probably more at home on stage here in Blackpool than anywhere else having notched up well over 1000 appearances on various stages around the resort.
And now there’s another appearance to add to that record as he heads to VIVA on Thursday 10th July as “Billy Pearce’s ‘Funny Guy'” show heads to the popular Promenade venue with a slight twist on his usual dates performed in the town. For a change, Billy is
advertising it as an adult show!
Billy says about the upcoming date “It’s cheeky, nothing too blue – but I like a change. I think once people have got past the initial shock, they will love it. Don’t worry – you’ll still be able to tell your next door neighbours the gags, there just may be a bit more blushing than usual.”

Also appearing on the evening is VIVA’s own Leye D Johns joined by his VIVA Showgirls and vocalist Phil Jeffries presenting the first half before Billy takes to the stage to perform his hilarious act which is touring the UK this year.
“I love Blackpool, and it seems to love me as well” chirps Billy before he lists the various stages on which he’s appeared over the years. “North Pier – done that a few times, I’ve notched up 1000 performances on stage at Blackpool Grand Theatre. That’s more than anyone else! I’ve appeared at Blackpool Tower too – I’ve got some brilliant memories here in Blackpool working with the very best. Although walking up those piers in the wind and rain was a challenge!”
As well as his appearances in and around Blackpool, Billy has a string of awards and TV appearances on a CV many comedians would be envious of. In 1994 he won top live theatre variety entertainer award at the British Comedy awards, he was voted Club Mirror’s ‘Solo Comedian of the Year’ by his fellow professionals, and followed this with ‘Best Television Comedy Newcomer’ at the London Palladium.
He came to national prominence when he appeared on New Faces in 1986. He was quickly snapped up for stage and TV appearances, culminating with his first series for BBC television, ‘You Gotta Be Joking’.
In 1993 he was honoured to be chosen to host The Children’s Royal Variety Performance screened by the BBC. He appeared in the same show a year later, following this with a laughter filled appearance on the Royal

Variety Performance. In total, Billy has performed in five children’s Royal Variety shows and three Royal Variety shows.
Billy has appeared on Television many, many times. Appearances include “Des O’ Connor Tonight”, “Through the Keyhole”, “National Lottery Live”, “Can’t Cook wont Cook”, and the “Des and Mel Show”. He’s also Appeared in an episode of “Heartbeat”, and the Bafta award winning ‘Street,’
His musical credits include playing ‘Roddy O’Neil’ in Boogie nights and has recently enjoyed narrating in the “Rocky Horror Show” and being a ‘Bosnian Host’ in the fab musical ‘Eurobeat’ with the lovely Mel Giedroyc.
“I’m chuffed to have been asked to appear this year at the fabulous VIVA Blackpool! In fact, I’ll go as far to say I’m chuffin’ chuffed! Buy a ticket and enjoy us for a chuffin’ great night out!”
