There is one very good reason why Blackpool is the UK’s number one beach destination – it has got brilliant beaches!
In 2016, the resort achieved its first Blue Flag for the quality of its bathing waters AND finished runner-up in a survey to find the best shoreline on the planet, pipped to the winner’ post by Dubai.
The resort, with its miles of golden sands and stunning new promenade, finished ahead of the Gulf of Mexico, Cape Cod, Cape Town and various parts of India, Ireland and Australia.
The various locations around the world were judged on the clarity of the horizon, the colour of the sea, quality of the beach, cleanliness, shoreline features, air quality and the weather.
Blackpool scored highly for its Blue Flag beach and for its range of features along the shoreline including the world-famous Blackpool Tower, tramway and the Pleasure Beach.
Only the British weather prevented the resort from beating Dubai to the top spot.
Blackpool was the only British resort in the top 10. So, what are you waiting for? Come on down!
With millions heading to the UK’s favourite beach resort each year to enjoy the golden sands, safety is at the forefront on the seafront.
Blackpool’s beach lifeguards are trained to an incredibly high standard together with an in house, on-going competency-based training programme throughout the season, which encompasses incident response exercises, fitness drills and first aid training.
