Four Corners of the World
Four Corners of the World will explore four different sets all created around man made wrecks that have been taken over by marine life. Asia, Africa, Europe and America have been represented with famous underwater landmarks such as the Terracotta Warriors being recreated.
Visitors will also find information on the many local wrecks off the Fylde Coast such as Nelson’s then flagship HMS Foudroyant famously ran aground and was wrecked in a hurricane-force storm in 1897.
Amazing creatures include: Leopard eels, Dwarf fuzzy lionfish, Brittle stars, Spider crabs, Flashlight fish and Mandarin fish who were voted the most beautiful fish in the world plus many more.
What can you see?
SEA LIFE Blackpool is packed with fascinating creatures. Be sure to visit the huge ocean tank, where a maze of tunnels allows you a unique view of a host of amazing aquatic animals, including tropical sharks.
Look out for Boris the Bowmouth Guitar Shark as he swims above you, as this is the best perspective you can get to see how his shape gave this species its name. You might also spot Nobby, the Giant Lobster who keepers believe is over 100 years old!
Elsewhere, highlights include Clownfish, Turtles, Rays, Seahorses, Jellyfish and Eels. You can also chart the movements of Flowrider, the Basking Shark fitted with a satellite tracker by SEA LIFE Blackpool. He’s already had quite a year, visiting oceans off the coast of France and Morocco. Where will he end up next?
Feeding time
For many visitors, the highlight of their visit is seeing these wonderful creatures at feeding time. Watching on as they interact with the keepers is an enthralling sight, so be sure to make a note of each animal’s feeding times in order not to miss out. The ocean tank tends to be visited around 2:30.
