There’s plenty of fun for all, whatever your age in Blackpool! Enjoy fresh air, entertainment and plenty of heritage at a pace that suits you.

Bowling in Stanley Park1. Enjoy a night at the theatre with one of the many delightful shows on offer in the resort's many theatres. Whether you choose end-of-the- pier entertainment, a West End musical or top comedian on Europe's largest stage at the Opera House, ballet or drama at the beautiful Grand Theatre, or feathers and razzamatazz at the Pleasure Beach Resort, you're sure of a great night out.

2. Visit the latest art exhibition at the Grundy Art Gallery on Queen Street. Built in 1911, this beautiful, purpose-built venue hosts a programme of contemporary and traditional art installations and exhibitions.

3. If you've got Strictly fever, then there's no better place than Blackpool to do a Ballroom blitz! With two stunning ballrooms – located in the Tower and Winter Gardens, there's a whole programme of shows and competitions to enjoy, many featuring the stars of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing TV extravaganza!

4. As the birthplace of the seaside holiday, Blackpool has a formidable history and some stunning buildings – explore the resort's heritage tours over Heritage Open Days weekend in September. Or try the wonderful tour of the Tower which tells the story of the magnificent structure from it's conception in 1889, when the then mayor visited the Paris Great Exhibition and was inspired by the Eiffel Tower. The tour takes you through the highs and lows of this iconic structure's history and leads you around all the magnificent areas in the entertainment complex housed within its base – ending up with a cream tea in the magnificent Ballroom.

5. Join us to salute the brave men and women who have fought for this country and who continue to do so today as Blackpool does Veteran's Week bigger and better than anywhere else – with a whole week of events, this year taking place from 19-27 June.

Kiosk on Blakcpools North Pier6. The fabulous Art Deco Café at Stanley Park is worth a visit all on its own – but add a recently restored Victorian park that’s been described as the jewel in Blackpool’s crown and recently voted Blackpool's favourite location, then you're in for a real treat. Known as one of the North West's finest parks, stunning and colourful feature gardens, ornate fountains, lakes and woodlands, offer the backdrop to a tranquil and relaxing visit.

7. Take a stroll along historic North Pier and follow in the footsteps of millions who have made the same journey since it opened back in 1863. The impressive structure stretching out into the Irish Sea was the second of fourteen piers to be designed by Eugenius Birch and is now the oldest of his remaining creations still in use. Enjoy a drink in the bar overlooking the beach, take a ride on the vintage carousel, or while away an hour on a sunny day in the gorgeous solarium at the seaward end.

8. Don't forget your bus pass! If you're over 60 you can use your free bus pass to get around on all local bus services in Blackpool between 0930 and 2300 on Monday to Friday or any time at weekends or on a public holidays no matter where in England you come from (unfortunately if you’re from Scotland or Wales your pass won’t be valid in England).
