Active

The fun and excitement is non-stop. Blackpool is crammed with awesome activities for everyone – whatever your age. You name it; Britain’s favourite beach resort has got it!

Kite Surfing at Blackpool

1. Learn to climb or practise your existing skills at the gateway to the resort at climbing facilities used during national and international championships! Experience the climbing bug at George Bancroft Park where two 20 metre high outdoor towers await with a series of lessons and courses available.

2. Enjoy the thrills of Round 4 of the British Kitesurfing Championships which hit the beach later this year. The sky's the limit as the country's top boarders catch some waves – and some serious air using a small surfboard and a huge performance kite to propel riders through the air, performing spectacular twists and tricks as they go!

3. If you fancy a day of activities with your mates then visit Sudden Impact at Whyndyke Farm just off the M55 for a high adrenalin mix of paintball, laser tag, quad biking, archery and air rifle – open seven days a week for some great fun!

4. If you’ve got Strictly fever then, it’s got to be Blackpool – where you can watch the best of the best; or even try out a spot of dancing for yourself in the Dance Capital of the World. Boasting two magnificent ballrooms, the resort regularly hosts major national and international competitions. Blackpool’s Annual Dance Festival attracts top competitors from around the world and this year takes place from 27 May – 4 June at the Winter Gardens.

Dancing in Blackpools Tower Ballroom5. Go for a run along our seven miles of wonderful beaches and feel the golden sand beneath your feet as you exercise. It's a great way to enjoy the coastline and really work out your muscles. Specialists advise running on wet, firm-packed sand near the shoreline at low tide because the surface is flatter and less punishing on the body.

6. Take a spectator seat and enjoy Premiership football at Bloomfield Road, home of  Blackpool FC; take in the cricket at Stanley Park or enjoy one of the many athletics and gymnastics championships held throughout the year in the resort.

7. Get on your bike with an easy, green way to explore the resort – and keep healthy too! Blackpool is one of the UK’s cycling towns – and has a fleet of bikes, available to hire from automated hubs. We also host a huge number of cycling events throughout the year, including a stage of the Tour of Britain which will see the world's top riders come to town on Saturday September 11.

8. Visit the UK's largest indoor waterpark and enjoy the thrills of 18 rides and attractions including a lazy river, wave pool and slides large and small at Sandcastle Waterpark . With constant balmy temperatures – it's a great place to go if the weather outside is frightful!
