Now in its 27th year The Solid Silver 60s Show returns to the Grand Theatre for one night only on Sunday 15th April.
Hear the classic hits performed by the original hitmakers!
The Solid Silver 60s Show is a show that has become, over the last 27 years, an institution, reconfirming that the 60s are as relevant today as they have ever been.
With over 20 UK top ten hits between them, and many millions of records sold, Peter Noone, Chris Montez, Brian Hyland, Brian Poole and Vanity Fare all take to the stage in the legendary The Solid Silver 60s Show. This live rock ‘n’ roll concert gives you the chance to hear the classic hits performed by the original hitmakers!
A Time Magazine cover star and with ten UK top ten hits, including I’m Into Something Good and There’s a Kind of Hush, Peter Noone has sold over 60 million records worldwide.
His band, Herman’s Hermits, were huge in America where Peter became the youngest UK vocalist to top the US charts! This single, Mrs Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter, was number one for 14 weeks and went on to sell over 14 million copies worldwide.
Chris Montez spent the 1960’s performing his hits such as 1962’s UK number 2 million seller Let’s Dance and his follow up, Some Kinda Fun. He toured with Sam Cooke and Smoky Robinson and, during the height of his fame, The Beatles supported Chris on some of his UK tour dates!
New Yorker Brian Hyland has a varied and hugely successful career. He released Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini in the summer of 1960 and followed up the smash hit with Ginny Come Lately and his international hit Sealed with a Kiss.
Sealed with a Kiss became a huge hit again in 1989 when Jason Donovan’s cover version reached number 1 in the UK and spent 10 weeks on the charts!
Brian Poole formed The Tremeloes in 1958 and was signed to Decca Records, in favour of The Beatles! It’s one of music’s most fabled stories – and just shows how in demand Brian and his band were. They went on to record some of the biggest hits of the 1960s including Do You Love Me, Twist and Shout, Candy Man and 1964’s Someone Someone.
As busy today as ever Vanity Fare have clocked up over five million record sales, earning them two gold discs. Worldwide hits, including Early in the Morning, Hitchin’ A Ride and Better By Far, saw the band establish themselves across the globe, particularly in the USA where they had several top ten hits.
Vanity Fare will be providing the backing to all the artists on The Solid Silver 60s Show.
The Solid Silver 60s Show is proof incarnate that the timeless classic song writing and feelgood factor of this legendary decade continues to excite and delight generations young and old.
The Solid Silver 60s will be at the Grand Theatre on Sunday 15th April at 7.30pm.
