Enjoy an illustrated history of variety stars of the 1930s and the 1950s with Duggie Chapman’s Thanks For The Memory on Thursday 20th January.

Duggie Chapman MBE returns to Blackpool’s Grand Theatre by special request on Thursday 20th January at 2pm to showcase his latest fascinating film presentation Thanks for the Memory - Music Hall to Variety, recalling the great variety stars from the Edwardian era and the 1950s. 

Duggie Chapman at Blackpool Grand TheatreDuggie has been awarded the MBE for his services to Light Entertainment and the renowned actor, comedian, producer and impresario returns to Blackpool’s beautiful Grand to present rare film clips of speciality acts from yesteryear in a delightful stroll down memory lane.

The programme will include over 30 film clips of the stars of the great variety era and gathers together incredible archive film footage from the 1930s - much of it never seen before - taking you through to the stars and supporting acts of the heyday of Blackpool entertainment – the fabulous 50s!

These were times the likes of which will never be seen again, with performances by sensational artists including Alma Cogan, Mike and Bernie, Winifred Atwell, Ruby Murray, The Jones Boys, Toni Dalli, Adam Faith, The Dallas Boys, David Whitfield and many more from the 1950s, alongside the talented old timers from the 30s.

Duggie’s knowledge of the old stars is incomparable and his love for the Music Hall and Variety is evident in his excellent narration which he includes before each film clip.
An afternoon of showbusiness nostalgia not to be missed…
