To show our love for Blackpool and its fabulous Illuminations, we are planning the first ever Carnival of the Lights.
We’re looking for people from all walks of life to take part in a fantastic illuminated parade. You could be an individual, a charity, a community group, a business, a government organisation - all are welcome to join in, with your names in lights.
We welcome anyone who wants to use light in weird and wonderful ways to decorate their parade entry. You could illuminate your clothes, accessories, even your mobility scooter! This is your chance to get creative and literally produce glowing results.
The famous Worldbeaters Music’s illuminated drummers will be returning to Lightpool to lead the parade with Spark!, and for the first time Blackpool’s three illuminated trams will parade in convoy. So what are you waiting for? Come and help us give the famous Golden Mile some extra sparkle!
The parade will be leaving from the heritage stop at Blackpool Pleasure Beach at 5pm, and we will be waiting to join the parade at Central Pier, and will form a processional behind the trams to The Tower Festival Headland.
Entering couldn’t be easier and it’s completely free.
You can take part as an individual, a walking group of any size, or ride along on a mobility scooter. You can even walk your dog!
Need help with your costumes for Carnival of the Lights?
No need to worry about that, as we’re holding FREE workshops where we will help you to make illuminated banners, decorate your clothes and accessories or even give your dog a bit of sparkle!
The workshops will take place from 2pm on Sunday 15 October and Sunday 22 October at Stanley Park Visitor Centre (next to the park cafe), Blackpool, FY3 9TR. All materials, assistance and equipment is provided and you keep what you make!
You can sign up for a workshop when you register for the parade.
