As the world’s largest indoor illuminations experience, Illuminasia is unlike anything you’ve seen before. Continuing Blackpool’s long tradition of spellbinding light shows, it’s a magical walk-through attraction that blends Chinese lantern craft with modern laser technology to create incredible, larger-than-life exhibits.
There are six jaw-dropping zones to explore throughout Illuminasia. Let’s take a look at them:
The Jade Palace
The majesty of China is on full display here, with beautiful lanterns depicting former emperor Qin Shi Huang, the man responsible for unifying the country and building the Great Wall of China.
Look out for the stunning Chinese dragons, as well as the interactive elements to this exhibit where visitors can learn which animal represents the year they were born.
The Terracotta Warriors
Regarded as the Eighth Wonder of the World, the 8,000 Terracotta Warriors were found buried beneath the earth in 1974. Depicting Qin Shi Huang’s army, they were constructed out of clay with extraordinary attention to detail.
That same craftsmanship is on display at Illuminasia, where the army has been lovingly reconstructed in lantern form. They are certainly an impressive sight as you wander around the exhibits - keep an eye out for them on your journey.
Land of the Giants
This inventive exhibit places you in the middle of a normal British garden. There’s just one small difference, and that’s you! Each element of the garden towers above as you stroll through the grass, giving you a whole different perspective on this otherwise fairly normal setting. Look out for giant plants, bugs and even household pets on your travels.
The Dark Zone
You’d best be on alert in the Dark Zone, where spooky spectres and creepy crawlies are lurking around every corner. The Halloween theme is popular with younger visitors, as they dodge everything from sneaky spiders to the villainous Giant Pumpkin!
Prepare to take a trip under the sea as you plunge into The Deep. Not literally of course, but it will certainly feel that way as you explore the wonderfully illuminated sea bed. In amongst the plantlife you’ll find all sorts of colourful fish waiting to meet you.
Just watch out for the sharks!
World of Wonders
Witness every world landmark you can think of, beautifully reimagined in light form. Look out for the Statue of Liberty, the Sphinx, Tower Bridge, The Leaning Tower of Pisa and, of course, The Blackpool Tower.
The Laser Show Finale
The whole experience is topped off with a truly mesmerising laser light show. Be sure to pick up your 3D glasses to truly appreciate the effects created by this wonderful show.
